Deciding what you are going after.

Most searches that go nowhere went nowhere from the first decision. Before anything is written, we agree what you are actually going after.

Narrow beats broad

We aim at one to three roles. Not because your range is narrow, but because a person who is going for everything reads to an employer as a person who is going for nothing. Narrow is what makes the rest of the work land.

Where your experience sells

The roles we pick are the ones your history is genuinely strong for, which is not always the obvious next rung from your last title. People are often worth more sideways than upward, and they are usually the last to see it.

Sometimes this conversation ends with a title you had not considered, and sometimes it ends with us telling you the one you had in mind is not realistic yet, and what would have to change for it to be. Both are more useful than agreeing with you.

It is a decision, not a form

We spend real time here because everything after it rests on it. Your CV, who you are put in front of, what you prepare for. Get this wrong and the effort still happens, it just lands somewhere that was never going to pay off.

Reasonable questions
What if I genuinely do not know what I want?

That is a normal place to start and it is a good use of the first call. You do not need the answer before you speak to us, you need it before the work begins, and getting there is part of what we do.

Can I change my mind later?

Yes. Markets move and so do people. If the target changes we re-cut the CVs and the search around the new one. It costs you a conversation, not a restart.

Will you tell me if I am aiming too high?

Yes, on the first call, before you are a client. We would rather lose the engagement than take money for a search we do not believe in.

This is one part of a single engagement. Everything else that comes with it is on the services page.
